OnlineFX

If you want to buy your foreign currency without having to pay commission charges then OnlineFX is the place to go.  They also offer a fast next day service to your home provided you order what you need before 12.30pm.

You can view the site at www.onlinefx.co.uk.

What can you buy on the site?

As you would expect, you can take your pick from many different currencies when you place an order for foreign currencies on this website.  There is a handy link to a currency converter from the home page, which brings up a pop up to use.  There is an order button on the home page which takes you through to the secure part of the site where you can place your order.

First you need to select whether you want to buy currency notes or Traveller’s Checks, as they are both purchased through this same method.  Once you have selected your preferred currency the exchange rate in effect at present will be displayed in the relevant box; all you need to do then is type in the amount you want to convert and the amount you will get is displayed in the box below.  You will notice that this might then be rounded up or down slightly to account for the value of the bank notes that you can receive.

You will then need to create an account to continue with the order process, which again is completely secure.  Once this is done, you can add further currencies if you wish, before going ahead and placing your completed order.

This site does not currently offer a travel card which is pre-loaded with the currency of your choice, however it is worth keeping an eye out as this is becoming more popular and it makes sense for this type of site to offer it to increase its own sales.

They do offer a buy back facility however, which you can use when you return from your trip abroad.  The details of how to use this service can be found under the products and services section of the website, and you can find out what the likely exchange rate you receive will be before you go ahead with the transaction.

In conclusion

The OnlineFX website is very user friendly and also offers a special host of services for corporate clients as well as single travelers.

There is a comprehensive FAQ section which can be found under the Site Info tab of the main menu bar at the top of the page which is worth reading before you place your order, and you should also take a look at the destination guide if you want to find out something about the country you are visiting.

While there are no commission charges on the currency you buy, there is a small delivery charge of £4.95 which also insures your currency order against loss, so you are fully protected right through from the secure online ordering to the moment your currency arrives at your door.
